Dabs vs Flower: Which One Should You Choose?

Cannabis has come a long way from the traditional smoking methods, with dabs being one of the best innovations in cannabis consumption. Dabs are concentrated forms of cannabis that are created through an extraction process, while flower refers to the natural, unprocessed plant. In this blog, we will explore the differences between dabs and flower, including their benefits, potency, and consumption methods.

Benefits of Dabbing:

  1. Highly Potent: Dabs are highly concentrated forms of cannabis that can contain up to 80-90% THC, making dabs more potent then flower. This means that the users can experience a more intense high with a smaller amount of product.
  2. Faster Onset: The effects of dabs are felt much more quickly than flower as they are absorbed more efficiently by the body.
  3. Less Smoke: Dabs produce vapor and less smoke than flower, making them a better option for those who are concerned about the potential health risk of inhaling combusted flower.
  4. Versatile: Dabs can be consumed in a variety of ways including a torch & traditional rig, Electronic Rig, or a nectar collector. Most of the time dabbing is only associated with the torch which can be intimidating.

Benefits of Flower:

  1. Natural and Full-Spectrum Experience: Cannabis flower provides a more natural experience as it contains all the cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids present in the plant.
  2. Wide Range of Strains: Cannabis flower is available in a wide variety of strains, each with a unique flavor profile, aroma, and effects. This allows the consumer to pick the strain based on their preferences and strains.
  3. Easy to Use: Smoking flower is a simple and straightforward process. It doesn’t require special equipment unless it is your preference. You will need rolling papers, a pipe, or a bong, and a lighter.
  4. Less Potent: For those who prefer a milder experience or want to avoid the strong psychoactive effects of THC, flower is a better option as a typically contains lower levels of THC than cannabis concentrates. Ranging from 10-35%

The potency of dabs vs flower can vary greatly. As mentioned above, dabs can contain up to 80-90% THC, while flower typically contains anywhere from 10-35% THC. This means that dabs are more potent than flower and can provide a more intense quicker onset high with a smaller amount of product.

Cost Efficient:

Generally you would think that flower would be more cost efficient than cannabis concentrates do to the production cost, but that is not always the case for the consumer. You are a getting a concentrated more potent product with dabs that are normally sold in a 1G jar. Where cannabis flower contains more weight and less potency than cannabis concentrates, flower is normally sold in 1/8’s or 1/2 oz jars.

Smoking flower may not be as discreet as vaporizing your concentrates. Smoke combusted from flower can have a lasting aroma that is not discreet. Where dabbing or vaporizing your concentrates produces minimal smoke and odor, making it easier to consume without drawing attention.

So which one is right for you?

Ultimately, the choice between dabs and flower comes down to a personal preference and what you are looking for in your cannabis experience. If you are looking for a highly potent, versatile, and discreet experience, dabs may be the way to go. However, if you prefer the natural full-spectrum combustion that smoking cannabis flower may be for you.
